A paper on its own address reads as yours, not as a page on someone else's site. On Newsroom Floor you keep your domain at your own registrar and change a single record; nothing of your DNS is handed to us.
A subdomain is one CNAME; a whole domain is one A record at your own registrar. You keep the zone, your mail keeps flowing, and you can point it back any time. We never take over your DNS, because we do not need to.
Add the address in Desk settings under Your own domain, change the one record your registrar shows you, and leave it. The certificate issues itself, the desk shows Serving when it is live, and one email tells you it is done.
Readers see your nameplate at your address, your mark, and your sections. The paper's links, its feeds, and its share cards all name your domain, not ours.
